Teacher Interview: Mr. Halpern
Mr. Halpern is stoked to be a new math teacher here at North Tahoe. You may have him for Pre-Calculus, Integrated Math, or AP calculus; or have even seen a new guy with long hair- that’s him! Mr. Halpern is originally from San Diego, but has been in the Lake Tahoe area for the past five years. This is his first year teaching, and he is passionate and excited for the opportunity to be a mentor and teacher in our community. Here’s a little bit more about Mr. Halpern!
Q: What made you want to be a math teacher?
A: I wanted to have a chance to work with young people and to encourage them to believe that they can achieve their dreams and help them do that in any way I can.
Q: What college did you attend?
A: Claremont McKenna College
Q: Why’d you choose North Tahoe?
A: It's my favorite place I've ever been!
Q: What is your favorite thing to do in Tahoe?
A: Climbing in the summer, backcountry snowboarding in the winter.
Q: What sport(s) did you play in High School?
A: Football, Soccer, Baseball
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: Homemade Mexican food

Q: What is something unique about you?
A: I have a deep love for psychology and philosophy.
Q:What are your thought on soccer?
A: I am hopelessly obsessed.
Q: What is your favorite book and movie of all time?
A: Book - Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts; Movie - The Warriors
Q: What is one of the top items on your bucket list?
A: Climbing Half Dome and El Cap, hopefully next summer!
